Spring Break in 2010 I went to Tennessee, to visit my aunt who lives there. My cousin Dee went with me, my mom, my little brother and sister. On one of the days we went up into Pigeon Forge to look around and shop. Before we started to walk around my cousin had this bright idea that she wanted to ride what is called the sling shot. This thing goes 100 miles per hour and 110 feet up in the air…. Ummm yeah I thought she was crazy. I told her that there was no way that I was riding that thing, it looked like a death trap waiting to happen. I mean, I like the Titan at Six Flags and the Super Man roller-coaster and those two rides are pretty crazy but I was not about to ride this one.
Finally her and my mom convinced me to ride the human sling shot. So as I’m getting on I am practically crying I am so scared. I was like begging my mom to let me get off but she was like “Tapanga quit being a baby. We just payed for you to ride this and you are not getting off.” So we are finally all buckled in and the guy starts it up well the seat that we are sitting in kinda tilts back and I really start freaking out. The next thing I know is that I am being shot in the air and the seat is swinging front and back really fast and at the same time we are spinning upside down. At that time I think I was in shock, but in the end I ended up liking it and we even got T-shirts!
Me and Dee getting on. Me freaking out.
Up in the air spinning.
Us coming down laughing.
Crazy faces. lol
The very end with our shirts.
I shared this post as part of Project We since this week’s theme is red and the human sling shot was a red ride. My mom wrote about her trip to London and playing in the red phone booth for her Project We post this week.

Whoa- you are brave. I do coasters but I don’t think I would do this!

I agree with Rachel…you are sooo much braver than I am. Just don’t think I could bring myself to ride it…EVER. At least you had a good time!
I would just like to add that I did not make you ride this. LOL
I remember you begging Dee to bungee jump with you and I just simply suggested I didn’t see much of a difference. Of course afterward I guess I might have saw a slight difference in being shot into the air at 100 miles per hour verses jumping from a platform. Ha! However the video is priceless. I’ll get it up on YouTube very soon so you can share.
Love,
Mom
