Skinny by: Donna Cooner is the first inspirational book that I have read in a while. This is the kind of book that they should make mandatory as one of the novels that kids have to read in English class at school just so they can get the experience of reading nonfiction. I definitely have to say that I did cry at some points of this book. Donna Cooner has a way with words.
Ever knows that she is overweight and she know that everyone around her knows it too. Ever has this voice inside her head called Skinny. Skinny always tells her the horrible things that people are thinking about her. Even when Ever doesn’t want to hear what Skinny says it’s no use because Skinny is always there.
Some of the things that the main character, Ever Davies, goes through teenage girls can relate to. This story is about a 302 pound girl who undergoes gastric- bypass, but it is also about her struggle after the surgery and her struggle with the hope to fit in and get her chance to shine.
Skinny was part of the book club Teen Lit Rocks. After reading this I would definitely grade it an A+!
