I always struggle to have curls since my hair is naturally straight. I’m not fortunate enough to be able to scrunch my hair when its wet and then have the perfect beachy waves like my mom is. That being said, I have figured out how to create beachy waves on naturally straight and difficult hair.
How to Create Beachy Waves on Straight Hair
Beachy waves hairstyle is not just for the beach. I give myself beachy waves for military balls, graduations, and parties.
To get beachy waves on straight hair you are going to want to loosely curl your hair. The temperature of the curling iron varies from person to person. I usually have to have my curling iron on the highest heat just to get my curls to stay.
You want to start by curling the top piece of hair. You don’t want to curl the whole thing at once because that will give you a tight curl instead of a wave. You are going to want to hold for six seconds and then move down to the end of the hair.
Once you have moved down the piece hold for another six seconds and then release. If the ends are straight don’t worry about it, it gives the hair a more natural look.
Once you have curled all of your hair you are going to want to let it cool down, and don’t worry if some curls look too chunky. Once you have let them cool down you can pull them apart giving you more of that beachy wave look.
You can also pull on the curls to let them loosen and fall a little bit to add to the natural look.
When you are done you can mist your hair with a little bit of sea salt spray to give some texture and then you are ready to rock your look.
I sported my beachy waves while walking across the stage at graduation.
Now that you know how to create beachy waves – where will you wear your new do?
