My grandparents have always been really big into the renaissance era. So much so, that they have been going to Scarborough Fair since before my mother was born. It’s now become an annual tradition to go as a family. Since we have been going so long we have collected things like mugs, clothes, figurines – you name it we have it. With it being Scarborough Fair season, I decided to make a fairy garden inspired by the renaissance time, using a fairy and planter pot we got from one of our trips to Scarborough Fair in Waxahachie, Texas.
Scarborough isn’t just any normal fair, people dress up and go into character. The fair is like you have stepped into the renaissance time period and that’s what makes it all the more fun. I’ve dressed up with my grandparents for as long as I can remember.
Supplies To Make The Fairy Garden
- Cup or Pot
- Plastic Mushrooms
- Water Marbles
The moss and water marbles that I used I picked up from Dollar Tree. I used the water marbles to make a river in the garden. The fairy I used is sitting on a tree stump so it’s like she’s sitting at the river relaxing.
Henna tattoos are really popular at Scarborough Fair. I usually get them every year, big or small. My motto is “Did you really go to Scarborough if you didn’t leave with a Henna?” This year I opted to get a big one on my hand, and my sister got matching crosses with her boyfriend. (I know, super cute!)
In the past, I’ve gotten Chinese lettering and even an anchor.
Have you ever been to Scarborough Fair? If so what’s your favorite thing to do?
